Nutmeg is the seed of a tropical evergreen. Whole, it keeps its oils far longer than ground, and a fine grater releases them at the moment you need them.

Questions

How much should I grate?

A pinch, about a quarter teaspoon, is enough for most dishes. Nutmeg is strong.

How do I grate it?

Use a fine grater or microplane and grate straight into the dish.

What is the difference between nutmeg and mace?

Both come from the same fruit. Nutmeg is the seed, mace is the lacy red coating around it. Mace is more delicate.

How long will it keep?

The best-before date is printed on the jar. Keep the lid closed, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat.

What is jaiphal in English?

Nutmeg: the seed of the Myristica fragrans fruit. Mace (javitri) is the red coating around the same seed.

How can I pay and what does shipping cost?
